Bathos
A ludicrous descent from the exalted or lofty to the commonplace.
Caricature
Picture, description or extremely exaggerated the defects of a person or things.
Double Entendre
A word or phrase with two interpretations, usually one being risqué.
Farce
A comic dramatic work using slapstick humor.
Horatian Satire
Light-hearted critical commentary
Juvenalian Satire
Serious critical commentary.
Juxtaposition
Two things placed together to make a contrasting effect.
Lampoon
Publicly criticize someone using sarcasm, irony or ridicule.
Litotes
Ironical understatement in which affirmative is expressed by the negative of it’s contrary (usually double negatives) uses emphasis.
Non Sequitur
A conclusion that doesn’t follow it’s pretenses.
Paradox
The conclusion seems senseless, unaccepted or self-contradictory.
Paralipsis
Emphasizing a subject by apparently passing over it.
Repartee
A conversation that is full of quick, witty back and forths.
Aphorism
Terse saying that embodies a general truth or astute.
