Ex: It is one of the ** of life that by the time you’ve earned enough money for the things you always wanted, you no longer have the energy to enjoy them.
irony
- Teasing and contemptuous language or behaviour directed at a particular person or thing.
- Ex: Stung by her **, Frankie hung his head.

- an amusing use of a word or phrase that has several meanings or that sounds like another word.

The use of remarks that clearly mean the opposite of what they say, made in order to hurt someone’s feelings or to criticize something in a humorous way.
Ex: “You have been working hard”, he said with heavy **, as he looked at the empty page.

- leather that is slightly rough to touch and is not shiny.

- to laugh at someone and make them seem silly, in a funny or unkind way

- to make a joke about someone or make someone look silly

something that isn’t true that you tell someone in order to make a joke.
