Ingestion
When food is taken in throught the mouth and chewed.
Alimentary canal
Digestion- the break down of food to our cells, large poeces of food mist be broken down into smaller ones, and large molecules into smaller ones. This is done through the process of digestion through the alimentary cannel.
The alimentary canal consists of Mouth Salivery glands Oesophogus Stomach Small intestine Large intestine -colon Rectum Anus
Digestion
When the food is fully broken down into smaller absorbable pieces.
Absorption
When food is fully digested it is small enough to be absorbed by our body and used in our blood.
Assmilation
When the food is used in cells
Egestion
The left over useless food that passes out of the body.
Mouth
Were food is taken in and broken down to a certain extent. Saliva covers this
Oesophagus
The tube that takes food to the stomach
Stomach
A muscular wall that churns up food and mixes it with gastric juices that contain enzymes
Small intestine
This is the were food is fully digested and is completed. The food is s,all enough that it can pass out of the membrane and is absorbed into the blood stream
Colon -large intestine
Receives any food that has not been absorbed. Excess water is used to create faeces.
Rectum
The faeces are stored here
Anus
This is where the faeces leave the body or alimentary canal.

Found in :
Salivary glands , pancreas, small intestine.
