What does ECtHR stand for?
European Court of Human rights
What does UDHR stand for?
Universal declaration of Human rights.
What is the definition of human rights?
“A right which is believed to belong to every person, in every nation, as they are a human being”
Human rights are universal:
They apply to all humans regardless of nationality.
Human rights are inalienable:
They cannot be taken away by the state for no good reason.
Human rights are indivisible:
States must be accept all rights- they cannot pick and choose.
Human rights are owed by the state to people:
The government and public authorities must uphold them.
In the UK, what 5 things are rights protected by?

What are the 3 types of rights in the ECHR/HRA?
Absolute - Never interfere
Limited - Some situations of interference
Qualified - Can take away to protect others.
