Specialists who provides advice to line managers
Delegation
Giving employees the authority to perform tasks
Autocratic leadership
Where the manager is in charge of the business, makes all decisions and expects orders to be followed
Democratic leadership
All employees are involved in the production process
Laissez-fair leadership
Makes broad objectives known and allows employees to make their own decisions and organize their own work
Trade union
A group of workers who work together to protect their interest
Recruitment
Identifying a need for new employees and encouraging people to apply for the vacancy
Job description
Responsibilities and duties to be carried out by the job holder
Job specification
The requirements, qualifications, experience and qualities needed by people which fill the vacancy
Internal recruitment
The vacancy is filled by an existing employee in the company.
External recruitment
The vacancy is filled by someone who isn’t an existing employee in the company
Part-time employee
A job where the employee has less hours than the normal working week
Full-time employee
A job where the employee has the standard amount of working hours in a week 35-40h
On the job training
Training at the workplace watching and being instructed by experienced workers
Off the job training
Training away from the workplace being instructed by specialists
Induction training
Training for new employees explaining the business structure, procedures and activities
Redundancy
Employees are no longer required- The job spot no longer exists
Workforce planning
Establishing the size and skills needed by workforce in the future
Dismissal
An employees employment contact is terminated and they must leave the business
Communication
Sending a message from sender to receiver who understands it
Message
Information or instructions sent to the receiver

Between the member of an organization

Feedback
Reply from receiver with criticism and recognition of message
One way communication
The receiver is not expected to give feedback on the message

The reader is expected to give feedback on the message, possibly leading to a discussion
