Q

How does the agricultural landscape changed

2 points

A

1) Originally land was farmed with hedges and walls as field boundaries
2) However as farming practices have changed over time, the hedges in some parts of the country have been removed and large areas of land have been created to allow for the large machinery that is now used

Q

How has forestry influenced the landscape of the UK

5) points

A

1) Originally much of the UK was covered by deciduous woodland
2) Over hundreds of years the woodlands have been felled
3) Land that was once covered in trees is now open moorland, settlement, farmland
4) There has also been a change in the type of woodland in the UK, because much of the woodland which has been grown to replace the felled woodland is coniferous, not deciduous
5) In Scotland, the amount of woodland had decreased to 4% of the landscape by 1900 but the total is now back up to almost 20%
