Q
HHV Beta
A
Long reproductive cycle
Enlargement of infected cells
Slow cell-to-cell spread in culture
Multiple non-ganglionic latency sites
DNA virus
2 subtype: 6&7 (HHV-6B cause most disease)

Q
HHV-6 Pathogenesis
A
Inoculation of epithelial cells Primary viremia Salivary glands infected Latency -> may integrate into telomeres Reactivation -> Asymptomatic / Symptomatic (ImmCp)
3

HHV-6 Tissue Tropism
A
Neural cells (astrocytes and glial cells) -> seizure during primary infection cephalitis in reactivation in ImmCp
