What is the main problem with the DTM
When the model was created they assumed countries would flow though all stages but many get stuck in stage 2. It was based off one country.
What does the birthrate/ income graph assume
Richer + less children, poorer + more children
What is natural change/increase
The change in a size of a population caused by the interrelationship between birth and death rates
What is infant mortality
Deaths of babies under one year of ages from live births per 1000
What is fertility rate
Average number of children per women
What is birth rate
Number of live births per 1000 people in a year
What is life expectancy
The average number of years lived from birth
What is migration rate
The average number of people who move to a place
What is death rate
Number of deaths per 1000 people in a year
What is replacement rate
2.1 (how many people need to be born to replace deaths and to keep total population from declining)
How is the DTM limited
It doesnt show the variations within countries
What is the level of debt
The amount of debt in relation to the size of the economy as a %
What are the two causes of death
Infectious (ledcs) and degenerative (medcs)
What is the key stage in the DTM that shows the transition into industrialisation
Stage 3 (late expanding)
