What is an antigen?
A protein on a cell that allows it to be recognised.
What is an antibody?
It is produced by white blood cells and detects foreign cells.
What is the immune system made up of?
White blood cells.
How do white blood cells fight pathogens?
They release antibodies and antitoxins.
How do antibodies help to destroy pathogens?
They recognise foreign cells and mark them for destruction.
How do antitoxins help to fight against pathogens?
They neutralise the effects of the pathogens toxins.
What do pahgocytes do?
They engulf and destroy pathogens.
What is a memory cell?
A cell that recognises the antibodies you have made before to fight off pathogens so you can fight them off again.
