Prevents food and drink entering the lung

What are pathogens?
Disease causing organisms that stick to mucous
Function of cilla in the trachea?
They push the mucous to the epiglottis. Then it is moved to the stomach
Function of the lungs?
Gas exchange
What are lungs enclosed by?
Enclosed by 2 plural membranes
What protects the lungs?
A layer of liquid protects lungs from being damaged by rubbing off the chest

What occurs in the alveolus?
Oxygen passes from alveolus to red blood cells
Carbon dioxide and water vapour pass from plasma to alveolus
