What is the circulatory system?
The system which consists of blood, blood vessels and heart is the circulatory system.
Why is blood red in colour?
The red colour of the blood is due to the presence of a pigment called haemoglobin.
What are major components of blood?
Plasma, Platelet, WBC(White Blood Cell), RBC(Red Blood Cell)
What is Plasma in blood?
The liquid part of blood. Pale yellow in colour. Carries glucose to the cells.
What do Platelets do?
Helps in blood clotting.
What is WBC?
White Blood is a component of blood. It has no definite shape , has nucleus and destroys pathogens.
What is RBC?
Red Blood cell is a component of blood. It is disc shaped, non- nucleated, contains haemoglobin, transports oxygen and carbon dioxide
What are arteries?
Arteries are the blood vessels that carry oxygen-rich blood from the heart to different parts of the body.
What are veins?
Veins are the blood vessels that carry carbon dioxide - rich blood from different parts of the body to the heart.
What are capillaries?
Capillaries are the thin blood vessels that copnnect arteries and veins.
What is heart?
Heart is the centre of the circulatory system. It pumps blood to all parts of the body.
What is pericardium?
The heart is covered by a double layered membrane called pericardium.
How many chambers does human heart has?
Human heart has four chambers.
What is heartbeat?
Heartbeat is defined as the rhythmic contraction and relaxation of heart muscles.
