How does blood flow through a capillary bed?
Controlled by pre-capillary sphincters to increase/decrease flow, directed by nerves. Lymph vessels take leaked blood to lymph nodes before returning to heart.
Hydrostatic Pressure
force that drains fluid out of capillaries and into tissue
Colloid
Pressure created by concentration of colloidal proteins in blood. Accounts for re absorption of water.
How do lymphatic vessels prevent edema?
As interstitial fluid accumulated it is picked up/removed by lymph vessels and returned to blood and maintains normal volume and pressure.
Types of Neurons
Multipolar, Bipolar ( 2 processes, 1 fused, 1 axon), Unipolar (one process extends cell body on each side
Sensory neurons
pseudiunipolar, cell in ganglia outside CNA carry impulses from receptors to CNS
Motor Neurons
carry impulses away from CNA to organs, multipolar
