Sagging
It is the longitudinal bending of the ship that is caused after being
subjected to local loads and stresses at the center of the ship.

It is the longitudinal bending of the ship after being subjected to local
stresses and loads at the fore and aft ends.

Torsion
If a vessel is subjected to pitching and rolling at the same time, ie taking the wave on either bow, the vessel tends to twist longitudinally.

Raking
Global transversal shear force trying to deflect the upper parts of the
vessel in athwart direction in relation to the lower hull.

Water Pressure
Water acts perpendicular to the surface of the submerged hull and
increases with depth. This produces collapsing stresses which must be
resisted.
