What is a router
A router is your doorway out of your internal network and out to the internet that is on the other side of the router

routes traffic between networks
What is a bridge
Joins together two networks that use the same base protocol
What is a gateway
Joins together two different networks that use different base protocols, e.g. LAN to WAN
What is a search engine
A search engine is where the user enters a series of key words into a search bar and a web crawler searches around the database of websites (the index) for matching words.
The search engine uses algorithms to bring back the best results that include the search terms. The results are listed in order and the best results are displayed on the user’s computer.
What is a URL
A URL is a string providing the full address of the web page, which is also called a web address.
What is a Protocol (URL)
it tells the webs servers what protocol they should be using
What is a Sub-Domain (URL)
the name of the website
What is a second level Domain (URL)
Provides more parameters to your search making it more specific
What is a Path (URL)
the subdirectory to a specific page, it helps identify what part of the website is being used
What is a top level domain (URL)
Type of organisation it is registered to
