HTA Section 32

A

(1) No person shall drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor vehicle is within a class of motor vehicles in respect of which the person holds a driver’s licence issued to him or her under this Act. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 32 (1).

(3) No person shall drive, on a highway, a vehicle equipped with air brakes unless the licence of that person is endorsed to permit the driving of a vehicle of that class equipped with air brakes. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 32 (3).

(5) The Minister may issue a driver’s licence to any person who meets the requirements of this Act and the regulations authorizing the person to drive on a highway,

(a) any motor vehicle within a class or classes of motor vehicles;

(b) subject to any conditions or endorsements; and

(c) for the period of time,

prescribed by the regulations and set out or referred to in the licence. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 32 (5).

A

Class “A” license allows for the operation of any combination where the towed vehicle or trailer exceeds a gross weight of 4,600 kilograms. However, it does not permit the operation of a bus while carrying passengers.

A Condition R

A license with a condition R allows the holder to operate a combination of motor vehicle and towed vehicle that requires a Class A license. However, they are not allowed to tow more than one trailer or a trailer with air brakes. (O Reg 340/94 Sec 3 A Class Condition R for Restricted.)

Licence qualifications?

A

A Class “D” license allows for the operation of a motor vehicle exceeding 11,000 kilograms in gross weight or registered gross weight.

t also allows for a combination of vehicles where the combined GW or RGW exceeds 11,000 kg, and the towed vehicles are not over 4,600 kg.

This license does not permit the operation of a bus carrying passengers.
