What is hence scholein purpura? Antibody?
A
IgA mediated small vessel vasculitis.

What are clinical features of Henoch Schonlein purpura?
A
Palpable purpuric rash (with localized oedema) over buttocks and extensor surfaces of arms and legs
Abdominal pain
Polyarthritis - arthralgia, periarticular oedema
Features of IgA nephropathy may occur e.g. haematuria, renal failure (glomerulonephritis)
Often fear
Often preceded by URTI

3-10 years old
Boys 2x girls
Peaks during winter months
Often preceded by a URTI

What is management for HSP?
A
Analgesia for arthraglia Supportive treatment for nephropathy Steroids may help resolve pain Usually self-limiting Around 1/3rd have relapse Most recover in <2 months
