HR Interview Training Flashcards
Tell me about yourself
Why should we hire you?
Because I believe that I can make a positive contribution to your team. I am a responsible person, highly dedicated to my work and I pay close attention to details. I have experience working in demanding environments, which have taught me how to prioritize tasks, how to communicate effectively with my colleagues and how to work successfully in a team. I am a flexible person who can easily adapt to changing situations and work well under pressure. I am also an assertive person and very passionate about flying, I have loved aviation since a very young age, so I am excited about this opportunity and am committed to give my best, to keep learning and improving my skills.
What base do you want?
It would be nice if I could get Malaga or Madrid base after I make some seniority within the airline, however, I’m happy to be based anywhere around the network as it would be a very nice life experience.
What will you do if your captain isn’t following the SOPs?
My priority is to maintain the safety of the flight, so I would first ask him, in a respectful and non-confrontational manner, if there is a reason for deviating from the SOPs and offer to provide any support or assistance if needed. If he continues to deviate from the SOPs, I would kindly ask him to adhere to the procedures. If there is a situation that jeopardizes the safety of the flight and the passengers, I would take control and report the situation at the end of the duty.

Tell me some numbers or something you know about Ryanair
According to Ryanair’s website
- The number of aircraft in summer 2022 was 505
- 409 NG
- I could not find the exact number of 8200 operating but I think its around 97 and 210 8200 on order
- 1 737 700 use for base training, charter, football teams, etc
- 29 A320 - Lauda.
- I know that Ryanair operates over 40 countries, over 230 airportsand over 2500 daily flights
- It has one of the youngest fleets of any major European airline (avg. age under 9 yrs)
- Also operates a fleet of three Learjet aircraft for transporting maintenance crew and spare parts around the network as needed.
Why do you want to become a Ryanair Pilot?
I’d like to become a Ryanair pilot because of the possibility of becoming a captain in just four years. I know that Ryanair has one of the best training departments in the industry so I am excited about the opportunity to learn and develop my skills with Ryanair. The flexibility to live anywhere in Europe and the 5/4 roster are also very attractive to me as they provide a great work-life balance.
Have you applied for any other airlines? Which ones?
Yes, I applied for Iberia and Wizz Air.
Weaknesses
I usually have trouble saying ‘no’ when someone asks me for help. This has sometimes caused me to take on more than I can handle, leading to stress from overwork. But I’m working on this by learning to prioritize my needs and wants, and knowing what I can and cannot accept.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I hopefully will be able to become a captain in Ryanair. I know that Ryanair has one of the best training department in the industry so it would be nice if I can join the team as a Synthetic Flight Instructor.
When can you start?
As soon as possible.
What do you think about the MCC course and what did you learn from it?
It was one of the most important courses, if not the most important that I did.
I really enjoyed it, it taught me how to work effectively as a team in a multi-pilot aircraft, how to follow procedures in a coordinated manner with my partner, to understand better the crew member roles and responsibilities during normal and abnormal operations. It helped me to improve with my communication and my decision-making skills.
What are SOPs? Are SOPs important? Would you deviate? When can we disregard SOPs?
Standard Operating Procedures are common procedures established by an airline which supports pilots in operating an aircraft safely and consistently.
SOPs are very important because they provide safety and efficiency to aviation operations, following established procedures can reduce the probability of accidents and errors. They also ensure that tasks are completed correctly, in a specific order, and in the same way by different people.
I would always prioritize following SOPs as they provide safety and efficiency to aviation operations, and only deviate from them when necessary to ensure safety. (Example. TCAS when flying at Maximum Operating Altitude)
Example of someone deviating from SOPs: A pilot not using standard phraseology, resulting in the message being misunderstood by the recipient.
Another example: Fire on operating engine on Single Engine Approach. If you follow SOPs (Memory Items), you will kill the live engine!
