HPV Flashcards
Structure of HPV
Ds DNA , 50-55nm diameter, small, non enveloped, icosahedral containing
72 capsomeres and
8000 nucleotides base pairs encoding
9 overlapping genes
Genome of HPV is divided in to?
Regulatory, Early and Late genes
Function of regulatory gene of HPV
Regulatory gene does not encode protein but regulates expression and replication
Function of E Protien of HPV
E protien necessary for regulation of DNA replication but not incorporated in the viral particle
- E6 protein: inactivates cells Tumor suppressesor protein p53
- E7: inhibits rb protein which regulates cell cycle proliferation
Function of L gene of HPV
L protein s form the outer protein shell or capsid of HPV
- mainly L1 L2
- HPV subtypes are based on sequence of L 1 region
