A
Stable DNA virus which mutates slowly

What does it do?
A
Cause cells to proliferate through subclinical or benign causes, some can cause cancer

Primary and secondary prevention
A
Primary: vaccination
Secondary: vertical screening and detection management

Cytology based cervical screening
A
- sample of cervical cells is collected
- sample rinsed into liquid media (LBC, liquid base cytology)
- cytology assessment looks for abnormal morphologies
OR NOW - samples are tested for 14 high risk HPV genes through PCR, where positive cells have cytology taken to confirm
