What does the term “correspondence” mean to the CHP?
All communications prepared on departmental letterhead and on Memorandum, CHP51WP, except publications transmittal memorandums which are governed by the Publications Management Manual HPM 1.1

Via an Information Bulletin (IB) or Management Memorandum (MM)

Memorandum, CHP51WP, macro of same and is used for intra and inter departmental correspondence

As a memorandum
What is Category 2 correspondence?
Correspondence using CHP letterhead and designed for agencies or individuals outside the CHP
Can a letter be sent within the Dept?
Yes, for commendations and letters to Go. Lt. Gov, legislators and courts and justices.
How is correspondence to ELECTED officials prepared?
As a letter
The signature block is placed where on a correspondence?
Four spaces below the closing and flush with the left margin.
In the body of the correspondence, may a date be divided between two lines?
Yes, but only the year may be on a separate line.
How shall the time be listed in interdepartmental correspondence?
The American system of time (e.g. 5:15 P.M.)
Single paragraph letters and memos SHALL be:
Double Spaced
Multiple paragraph letters and memos SHALL be:
Single spaced.
