Properly assess body systems
Check Jugular Veins for Distension.
Lung sounds in 6 places
Sweep (Palpate the abdomen)
Check for Pedal Edema (swelling at the ankles and feet)
Cardiovascular
Check pulse/motor/sensory (arms and legs)
S-LAMS Score
F facial droop (smile)
A arm drift (hold arms out palms up close eyes)
S Slurred speech
T Time of symptom onset
Neurological
How does the skin look CTC
Check for hives or rashes.
Bruising (Non traumatic)
Integumentary
Is the patient complaining of pain in pelvic region.
Ask when last period was.
Is there a possibility of pregnancy.
Any unusual bleeding or discharge.
Reproductive
Assess pulse Ox SPO2.
Lung sounds 6 places.
Work of breathing.
Accessory muscle use.
Hx of Asthma or COPD.
Pulmonary
Is patient complaining of pain on movement.
Sprains or strains.
Fractures (see trauma assessment)
Musculoskeletal
Patient complaint of abdominal pain or distress.
Urinary bleeding or pain on urination.
Auscultate abdomen for bowel sounds.
Palpate all 4 quadrants of the abdomen.
GI/GU
History of Psych problems.
Medications indicating Anxiety disorder.
Does the patient want to harm self or others.
Psychological/Social
History of Psych problems.
Psychological/Social
