How does the political leaning affect choice?

A

President wants a judge with a similar political leaning to them as they may want what the president does. Very important was the supreme court is becoming more and more polarised.

How does the judges experience affect?

A

Want someone who is competent or it could be embarrassing. Clarence Thomas only got rated ‘experienced’ which was embarrassing

How does the change of makeup if appointed affect?

A

If a right-leaning justice is replaced by a left leaning justice, the composition may change and it could change the result of future rulings. Currently, as Trump got two choices in, the composition is right-leaning.
