Housekeeping measures and bottlenecks Flashcards
What is the role of housekeeping measures?
Cost-effective, easily implemented with zero/minimal investment, leading to significant savings.
helpful for getting things done in the org - engaging employees and improve env. performance, good standards
e.g. turning off lights, making sure batches aren’t burned, turning off machines after using.
- regular cleaning schedules
- proper waste disposal
- spill control protocols
- organized tool and equipment storage
- labeling
- light maintenance
“low hanging fruits”
What is meant by eliminating bottlenecks and why important? how to do it?
What:
identify and eliminate points in production or workflow process that reduces its efficiency. It occurs when one part of the system has lower capacity than others, causing delays and reducing outputs of the system.
why important:
it limits the overall production and we want smooth operations to be effective.
How to do it?
-Analyze workflow (flowcharts, value stream mapping, process simulations)
-Streamline processes; eliminate unnecessary steps, waiting times, repetition
-Load-balancing: redistribute tasks, preventative maintenance (optimal performance)
- improve schedule and planning
