What are some recent changes to building regs?

A

In 2023, there were some updates:

Approved Doc B (Fire Safety)
- Requirement for 2 stair cases for buildings over 7 storeys/18m

  • Banning the use of Metal Composite Materials with unmodified polyethylene cores on any building at any height

Update to Part L (Conservation of Fuel and Power)
- Requirement for all new homes to use less energy.

Update to Part O (Overheating)
- A greater requirement for solar shading
- A greater focus for non-mechanical cooling
In 2024

New Part T (Toilets) - Requires single-sex toilet cubicles, or universal self-contained
