A fixed area of intense volcsnic activity where magma from rising lava plumes reach the Earth’s surface

E. African rift Valley
4000 km long and contains many active volcanoes e.g. Kilimanjaro

A
A volacano that erupts more than 1000 km^3 of material in a single eruption
EXAMPLE: yellowstone in Wyoming has a caldera that is 75km in diameter
