Q

What happens when an object is heated?

The concept of thermal expansion

A
  1. Increase in kinetic energy.
  2. Increased movement of molecules now causes them to collide with each other a lot, making them move farther apart. This in turn, causes the material to expand.

Note: This is called thermal expansion!
