What is the size of hose reel tubing?
Normally, 3 x 20m lengths are connected together by macdonald type couplings.
How much hose reel hose is usually carried on an appliance?
Usually there are 3 x 20m lengths on both sides of the pump, equaling 120m all together.
How is hose reel tubing constructed?
1) Inner rubber tube of lining
2) Reinforced by wrapping, with layers of rubberised woven fabric applied spirally
3) An outer cover of abrasion resistant rubber is applied
4) The whole thing is then vulcanised together
How is delivery hose typically damaged?
1) Contact with sharp edges. Doesn’t always always penetrate right through, but may cut the outer cover.
2) Damage by bursting

What are the FOUR steps that should be taken to avoid unnecessary damage to delivery hose?
- Hose should be ramped when laid across a road
- Hose should be charged slowly and not kinked under pressure
- Hose must not be rolled or stored when frozen
- Hose should be under run after use and preferably dried before stowing
