Estrogen
produce by ovaries and later by placenta helps the uterus grow maintains uterine lining (where baby is safely nestled)
- *steps up blood circulation
- activates and regulates the production of other key hormones.
- *bigger breasts –> tenderness
- *develop milk
- triggers development of baby little organs and regulates bone density
estrogen –> how it increasing blood flow
increases blood flow to mucous membrane and causes them to swell & soften given mom endlessly STUFFY NOSE = sinus congestion headaches, and postnasal drip
- pregnant “glow”
- red rashes & blotches
estrogen –> how it cause skin to be more sensitive.
hyperpigmentation –> darken nipples, areola, and white line that run down abdomen.
- skin on forehead, nose, and cheeks may start to look particularly tanned, creating the chloasma, or “mask of pregnancy.”
- *more sensitive to sunlight , so sunscreen !!!

progesterone keep placenta function properly and uterine lining healthy and thick and stimulates the growth of breast tissue.

creating room in the uterus is for baby benefit but by taking the squeeze off smooth muscle elsewhere progesteron with the help of the hormone relaxin, promts all manner of GI discomfort : INDIGESTION, HEARTBURN, & CONSTIPATION.

with relaxin- progesterone help to soften cartilage, loosening joints and ligaments, contributing to late-pregnancy aches in hip and pubic bone. Even your teeth and gums take a beting; gums swell and bleed under the influence of progesterone, which also bathes bad mouth bacteria in a nourishing brew–> PREGNANCY GINGIVITIS
