Hormones - GI Flashcards
What are the 4 GI hormones?
- Gastrin
- Cholecystokinin
- Secretin
- Gastric inhibitory polypeptide
What is the source for gastrin?
Gastrin - G cells in gastric pits
What is the source for CCK?
CCK - Mucosal epithelial cells - duodenum
What is the source for secretin?
Secretin - Mucosal epithelial cells - duodenum
What is the source for GIP?
GIP - Mucosal epithelial cells - duodenum
What is the stimuli for gastrin?
Peptides and amino acids in the stomach
What is the stimuli for CCK?
Fatty acids and amino acids in the small intestine
What is the stimuli for secretin?
Acidic pH in small intestine
What is the stimuli for GIP?
Fat and glucose in the small intestine
What is the action of gastrin?
Stimulate gastric acid secretion (HCl) and stomach motility
What is the action of CCK?
Stimulate secretion of pancreatic enzymes and bile from gallbladder
What is the action of secretin?
Secretion of water and bicarbonate (HCO3) from pancreas and bile ducts
What is the action of GIP?
- Inhibit gastric acid secretion (HCl) and motility
- Release of insulin from beta cells as a response to high blood glucose
