A
The constant maintenance of internal conditions to maintain optimal conditions for cellular reactions.

A
They are chemical messengers
They take time to get around the body and are transported by the blood + carried to their target organ

Pituitary gland:

A
- Release many hormones, including GROWTH HORMONES
- Located in the brain, underneath the hypothalamus
- FSH (follicle stimulating hormone)
- LH (luteinising Hormone)

- Releases thyroxine
- Located just below the throat
- Responsible for controlling metabolism

- Contains cells that release insulin + glucagon
- Located just behind the stomach
- Helps keep blood sugar levels safe

- Release Adrenalin
- Located on top of the kidneys
- Responsible for ‘fight or flight’ mechanism with danger
