Mediation
The human being is learning to see with his mind vast portions of the world that he could never see, touch, smell, hear or remember. The mediation of sense and sense-making in a given society via the (mass) media
Media
The communication outlets or tools used to store and deliver information or data
Mediation of politics
A situation in which the media have become the most important source of information and vehicle of communication between the governors and the governed
Mediatization
A development toward increasing media influence and independence. We change our behavior because of media
Media Logic
The dominance in societal processes of the news values and the storytelling techniques the media make use of to take advantage of their own medium and its format, and to be competitive in the ongoing struggle to capture people’s attention
Political Logic
Both a policy dimension – the effort to find solutions for politically defined problems by means of programs for action- and a process dimension – the effort to gain official acceptance of one’s chosen program of action
Public Sphere
An area in social life where individuals can come together to freely discuss and identify societal problems, and through that discussion influence political action
