Hooks Law Flashcards
What is Hooks law
The amount a spring stretches is proportional to the amount of force applied to it
What is the spring constant
Spring constant measures how stiff the spring is (measured in Newton metre)
What is the equation for Hookes law
Force (N) = spring constant (N/m) X extension (m)
What is the difference between vector and scalar
Vector measures distance as well as magnitude
What are three examples of vector
Force, velocity, acceleration
What are three examples of scalar
Speed, mass, volume
What is the equation for pressure
Pressure = Force/area
What is the equation for momentum
Momentum= Mass X velocity
What is the equation for moment
Moment = Force X perpendicular distance from the pivot
What is the principle of moment
When a system is balanced the anti-clockwise moment = the clockwise moment
What is the equation for Hooke’s law?
F = k X x
