Dickens uses regret to show that Scrooge is scared and worried for his future . The quote ‘ Haunt me no longer !’ Emphasises the nerve running down Scrooges back showing he is scared if these spirits and what they have been showing him .

The quote ‘beware them both ‘ creates a semantic field of danger , dickens does this to make sure that the reader gets an understanding of what they are and how they react . Doom is written on the boys face showing what he is .
