Justinian’s armies won nearly all of Italy and parts of Spain during numerous campaigns; rule almost all the territory that Rome had ever ruled (called himself a new Caesar); Justinian’s Code; constructed a 14-mile stone wall along the city’s coastline; rebuilt Hagia Sophia and built many other buildings
