What is the first stage of the FDE cycle?
The memory address held in the program counter is copied into the memory address register.
What is the second stage of the FDE cycle?
The address in the program counter is incremented, the program counter now holds the address of the next instruction to be fetched.
What is the third stage of the FDE cycle?
The processor sends a signal along the address bus to the memory address held in the MAR.
What is the fourth stage of the FDE cycle?
The instruction or data held in that memory address is sent along the data bus to the memory data.
What is the fifth stage of the FDE cycle?
The instruction or data held in the MDR is copied into the current instruction register.
What is the sixth stage of the FDE cycle?
The instruction or data held in the CIR is decoded and then executed. Results of processing are stored in the accumulator(ACC).
What is the seventh stage of the FDE cycle?
The cycle returns to step one.
