Q

how does homeostasis work

A

1- magnitude of change is detected by receptor which sends an impulse to the integrating centre(e.g. hypothalamus)
2- integrating centre compares the actual value which a reference value
3- if there is a significant difference between the actual value and the reference value then a stimulus is sent to the effector
4- the effector brings about a response which corrects the change

Q

what is the magnitude of the generated signal proportional to?

A

the magnitude of the response signal

the magnitude of the difference between actual and reference values
