What were causes of antisemitism?
Christian bias against Jews for ‘Killing Christ’
Made more extreme by jealousy of Jewish wealth and intelligence
Christians said Jews could not be in the army, or own estates, be clergymen, therefore jews turned to jobs they could do, doctor Jeweler art dealer lawyer banker.
Why was Hitler Antisemitic?
Hitler felt jealous and was angry that he was turned down by the Vienna art academy.
Suffered from inferiority complex, small statue, not good looking, one testicle, abused by father.
Born in the Austro - Húngarian empire, an area riddled with antisemiticism

How did the Antisemitic policies start?
It started on the 1st April 1933, with boycotts of Jewish shops.
Jews were sacked from civil service jobs, and not allowed to teach.
Mobs raided Jewish shops and smashed them - Jews were killed attempting to protect their shops.

The organised mass murder of all European Jews
When and how did the Holocaust start?
It started with the Wanssee conference where they agreed to exterminate Jews but work healthy ones
It started properly with the unexpected defeat of the Germans outside Moscow on the 5th December, Russians led by Zhukov.
Hitler believed that the Jews were an obstacle between germany and Russia and wished to rid himself.
What were methods employed in the Holocaust?
Jews were taken to concentration camps where they were used for labour and eventually killed.
They were killed by gas in disguise, led into showers in mass and a gas of cyanide was used instead of water, then cremated.
