The boy fidgeted nervously as he stood to make a speech in front of the class.

A safe place.
The church tried to be a refuge for the hungry or the poor.
Mirage.
Hallucination.
The hiker thought that he saw a pond of water in the middle of the desert, but it was only a mirage.
Protruding.
Sticking out.
The pregnant women’s belly was protruding.
Precipice.
Cliff.
As the group hiked, they looked up to see a giant precipice before them.
Delirious.
Temporarily mentally unstable.
Because the girl was very ill and had a high fever, she was delirious and said things that make little sense.
Inexplicable.
Incapable to be explained.
Even though the day had been tough, I felt impeccable inside as I looked around at my family.
Astonishment.
A great surprise.
With great astonishment, I realize that our team had actually won the game for the first time in the season.
Precarious.
Unstable.
Although the tilt of the skateboard looked precarious, the professional skater deftly maneuvered it and rode off.
Strenuous.
Requiring a lot of work and energy.
The long hike up the mountain was strenuous but we were determined to continue despite our aching muscles.
Outraged.
Extremely angry.
The girl was outrage when she discovered that her best friend had betrayed her.
Tedious.
Long and tiresome.
The boy found the three hours of math homework to be boring and tedious.
