Concussion
Mechanism: head collision, causing brain to move or twist inside the skull
Symptoms: headache, ringing in the ears, nausea, vomiting, fatigue or drowsiness, blurry vision, feeling as if in a fog, confusion, amnesia, slurred speech, loss of consciousness, delayed response to questions, forgetfulness, sleep disturbances, depression, sensitivity to light
Concussion Treatment
rest, avoid activities, hydration, sleep well, stay upright, return to activities gradually
Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy
Mechanism: over use injury
Symptoms: pain and swelling, limited RoM, pain when lifting arm to the side or doing overhead activities, worse in the morning but eases throughout the day
Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy Treatment
Rest, activity modifications, strengthening and increasing flexibility of the rotator cuff
Lateral Knee Pain
Lateral Ankle Sprain
Medial Ankle Sprain
ACL Injury
Hamstring Strain
Pulled Thigh and Groin Muscles
Elbow Injuries
Meniscus Injuries
Shin Splints
Cause: repetitive or intense exercise putting strain on shin muscles, tendons and bone tissue.
Symptoms: Pain in shin bones, dull ache at first. May become sharp and severe over time. Pain can be felt on front or outside of shin, or inside of the lower leg above the ankle
Shin Splint Treatment
Rest, stretching and modifying exercise routine. Proper shoes.
Warming up and cooling down effectively.
