60 minutes total, split into three periods

The team switches sides of the ice
What happens in NHL overtime?
played 3 on 3, first to goal wins; if after overtime a goal is not score the game turns into a shootout
Where can a player not make a play from?
the crease by the goal
what are the 8 red dots on the rink?
face off zones
what if off side?
entering the attacking zone if the team member crosses the blue line before the puck
What happens during penalty’s?
the team plays a man down
What is a power play?
opposing team scores a goal during the time player is in penalty and they are allowed to re enter rink
What are the rules when a penalty shot is called?
only fouled player may shoot, only player and goalie may be on ice, only one shot
what does the team consist of on the ice?
Three forwards, Two defenders, one goalie
Minor Penalties and how long
2 minutes, hooking; interference; holding; high stick; tripping; elbowing etc
Major penalties & time
5 min, fighting: charging; hit from behind; hits to the head
Misconduct penalties & time
10 minutes; any minor penalty with intent to injure, unsportsmanlike conduct to linesman or ref
offsides
puck must cross blue line before any player touches the puck, if the player crosses the blue line before the puck it’s offsides and face off in their end of the ice must be done
icing
puck is shot across two red lines, behind goal and center
