Who is a HM Coroner?
A
an independent officer of the crown - a doctor or solicitor that is appointed by the local council they investigate deaths that are - unnatural/unexpected - cause of death unknown - in state detention

Who is an expert witness?
A
an individual of considerable expertise who reviews the case and offers their opinion - they are PAID by the coroner for their service

What happens at an inquest if evidence emerges that a crime has been committed?
A
adjourn the inquest until AFTER criminal proceedings are completed
