HIVSH1 Flashcards
Fusion
HIV Fusing with cell membrane of CD4. Release cytoplasm into the CD4 cell = entry = binding and fusion
Once single stranded HIV RNA inside the cell the next step is reverse transcription ( transcription: double stranded DNA transcribed into single stranded messenger RNA). Reverse transcription is the opposite
Single stranded HIV RNA turning itself into a double stranded HIV DNA. Done by HIV enzyme called reverse transcriptase.
Once you have HIV DNA, whole reason for this whole reverse transcription was for HIV virus to get double stranded DNA. This double stranded HIV DNA can integrate itself with the host cell DNA ( which also is double stranded DNA ). = integration. Done by enzyme integrase.
Now when host cell dna replicates, it’ll automatically replicate HIV DNA with itself at the same time. Thats how HIV virus uses CD 4 to replaicate its genetics material. Transcription and translation. = messenger RNA gets encoded to amino acid chain. Long chain. Needs to broken down to functional units.
LAND FIRST pneumonic
Viral enzymes gets made for HIV RNA virus to bud off host cell.
First set of medications are gonna be entry inhibitors.
Entry: binding and fusion
Binding inhibitors: ibalizumab
Fusion inhibitors: enfuvirtide
NRTI side effects all have SE’s that are common to the whole class
T
Lactic acidosis
Headache
And #3) fatty liver : hepatic statosis
NNRTIs common SE:
Rash
Hepatotoxicity
Integrase inhibitors
RBED
GI
Nausea
HA
Fatigue
Protease inhbitors
LAND FIRST
All end with navir
All can cause hyperglycemia, hyperlipdemia and Lipodystophy
First step inside the cell is
Transcription
NRTis and NNRTIs are first step inside the cell blocker
Last step before viral genetic material and viral enzymes bud off are
Protease inhibitors
Inducers pneumonic
