BOISE HIVE’S MISSION IS TO PREVENT SUICIDE IN THE MUSIC COMMUNITY.
What the Hive Offers and Provides
WE OFFER COUNSELING, EDUCATION, REFERRALS, AND OTHER MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR MUSICIANS. WE PROVIDE RESOURCES AND OUTREACH THROUGH OUR ALCOHOL AND DRUG-FREE, ALL-AGE SPACES FOR REHEARSAL, MULTIMEDIA, AND COMMUNITY EVENTS.
Why this position/population
Music is near and dear to me as it helped me get through some of the most difficult times in my life. It allowed me to process and work through my emotions when I didn’t know how to. I would love the opportunity to help musicians just as they have helped me.
What motivates you?
Making a true difference in the lives of my clients as well as those who have given so much to the world.
What interest me about this role?
This position fits perfectly with my skill set and how I’m looking to grow in my career. I also want to be apart of helping people who are going through a difficult time overcome barriers to help them lead better lives.

Tell me about yourself
I recently moved to Boise from Eastern Ky with my partner and 3 cats. While in Boise, I have been working as a case manager at a PHP program for SUD. I
obtained my BSW degree in December of 2022 and I am currently working towards my MSW. I discovered my passion for social work a few years ago while taking a break from college. When I was first starting my educational journey, I knew I wanted to work with people but I just wasn’t sure how. I pursued dental hygiene and made it into the program completing 1 year. Although I was able to learn a lot of valuable skills from this experience, I knew that I wanted to be able to help people in a different more meaningful way. After a lot of searching, I realized that the values of social work aligned with my own and would provide me with the ability to do what I truly wanted, which is to help people change their lives for the better.

Weaknesses
Taking my work home with me. When I first began working in the mental health field, I often found myself worrying about my clients throughout the evening. To combat this, I have been practicing breathing and meditation techniques when first getting home to help myself decompress from the day.
