HIV / AIDS Cycle Flashcards
Step 1 Binding
HIV cell binds to receptor on CD4 cell
Step 2 Fusion
HIV envelope & CD4 cell membrane fuse; HIV enters CD4 cell
Step 3 Reverse transcription
Inside CD4 cell HIV release and reverse transcriptase to convert its genetic material - HIV RNA into HIV DNA; allowing HIV to enter CD4 nucleus and combine with CD4 genetic material
Step 4 Integrate
Inside CD4 cell nucelus, HIV release integrase. HIV uses integrase to insert its viral DNA into the DA=NA of CD4 cell
Step 5 Replication
Once integrated into CD4 cell DNA, HIV begins to use CD4 to make long chains of HIV proteins
Step 6 Assembly
New HIV protien and HIV RNA move to the surface of the cell and assemble into immature noninfectious HIV
Step 7 Bidding
New HIV push itself out of host CD4 cell; rlease protease. Protease breaks up long protein shian in immature virus, creating mature virus
