NRTIs (7)
A
- Abacavir (Ziagen)
- Lamivudine, 3TC (Epivir)
- Emtricitabine, FTC (Emtriva)
- Tenofovir, TDF (Viread)
- Zidovudine, ZDV or ATZ (Retrovir)
- Stavudine, d4T (Zerit)
- Didanosine, ddl (Videx)
11
Q
NRTIs - Key Features
A
- Renal dose adjustment (except abacavir)
- No CYP450 interactions
- Boxed warning: lactic acidosis & hepatomegaly w/ steatosis (zidovudine, stavudine, didanosine > others)
- Abacavir: hypersensivity - test for HLA-B*5701
- Tenofovir toxicities: nephrotoxicity, osteoporosis, Fanconi syndrome. Thought to be lower w/ tenofovir alafenamide
12
Q
Abacavir Brand
A
Ziagen
13
Q
Abacavir Class
A
NRTI
14
Q
Abacavir Dose
A
300 mg PO BID or
600 mg PO QD
15
Q
Abacavir Cautions
A
- Don’t mix with EtOH (incr abacavir levels)
- Caution in CVD due to possible incr risk of MI
