NRTIs - Key Features

A
  • Renal dose adjustment (except abacavir)
  • No CYP450 interactions
  • Boxed warning: lactic acidosis & hepatomegaly w/ steatosis (zidovudine, stavudine, didanosine > others)
  • Abacavir: hypersensivity - test for HLA-B*5701
  • Tenofovir toxicities: nephrotoxicity, osteoporosis, Fanconi syndrome. Thought to be lower w/ tenofovir alafenamide
