Beer hall putsch. When? What was it?

A

Occurred between November 8th and 9th of 1923. It was a coup d’etat. Hitler and the Nazi Party led a coalition group in an attempt to overthrow the German government. The plotters hoped to march on Berlin to launch a national revolution. They sought to establish a new government to oversee the creation of a unified Greater German Reich. In this new government, citizenship would be based on race. Despite its failure, the leaders ultimately redefined the putsch as a heroic effort to save the nation.

A

it was a youth organisation that promoted the ideas of fascism and the Nazi Party in general. The Hitler Youth propaganda their views on kids aged 10-18. It was based on an ideology where commitment, effectiveness and political readability, not class or education would determine how far they succeeded in the organisation.

Why did Hitler go to jail?

A

Him and the Nazi Party tried to overthrow the German government on November 1923. The Beer Hall Putsch was a fail and Hitler got send to jail for 5 years. Hitler used the time in prison to consider his political strategy and write the 1 volume of his book, which was an autobiography of his movement and his ideology.

  • Appealing to all societal classes (e.g. looking smexy in shoots for women, appealing to kids by using cute, nice posters, to the nationalists by presenting the ‘ultimate’ German citizen, to the working class by making promises of economic okayness, telling industrialists they’ll be able to keep their bank etc.)

  • 5 speeches daily
  • Would repeat popular themes (e.g. anti-semitism, anti–communism)
  • Training members public speaking skills
  • Modifying policies to appeal
  • Would stir up violence and then ‘deal with it’ to seem in control
