Newspapers

A

Hitler shut down anti- Germany newspapers and Jews were banned from owning or working for newspapers. Goebbel’s Ministry of Propaganda sent out daily instructions to all remaining newspapers telling them what to print, what pictures to publish and what angle they should take on the news. Also, display boards were set up in public places so that everyone could see the news.

Rallies

A

The Nazis were always presented in their uniforms. Once the Nazis gained power their rallies were even more impressive than to begin with. There was a huge stadium called the Nuremburg set up especially for the Nazis to hold rallies. Goebbels managed the rallies to give a dramatic impression of power and unity. In one of the rallies, 100,000 Nazis turned up holding 32,000 flags.

Books

A

Once the Nazis were in power they organised a book burning- this was when books were burned in public on massive bonfires. The Nazis burned books by Communists, Socialists, Jews and books they genuinely disapproved of. By burning books the Nazis were preventing German people reading and thinking things beyond the Nazi message. All new books published had to be registered by Goebbels’ Ministry.
