Many reasons including:

- Genuine sympathy for Germans
- Chamberlain’s misjudgment of Hitler
- Fear of communism
Examples include:

- Munich Agreement

- Fight against communists, showing the Germans’ anti-communist stance
- Test out their rearmed military
League of Nations did not intervene

- Many Germans and Austrians approved of the union
- Hitler encouraged Austrian Nazis to make trouble, cause demonstrations
- Hitler pushed Austrian Chancellor, Chancellor called for a plebiscite, almost all voted YES. (They say Hitler sent in troops for “maintaining order”)
Violation of ToV, Austria’s resources now at Germany’s disposal
Munich Agreement
Britain, France signing an agreement to let Germany take Sudetenland
- Allies did not help Czech, so Sudetenland was stormed without opposition
- From there, the rest of Czechoslovakia was easily invaded and overtaken without a fight.

A pact between Germany and Soviet Union where both nations would not attack each other, and would resolve matters peacefully for the next 10 yrs.
- Weird because of conflicting ideologies

Goering Four Year Plan (1936)
To prepare Germany for war in 4 years
- Large govt. Contracts on war materials
- These companies made mandatory donations to NSDAP.
Control on Workers
