  • Farmers had to go to the militia and land was damaged so they were less food supply
  • Smaller harvest, so food supply was threatened
  • increase demand of supply for the army
  • politics, and religious figures told everyone to resist the enemy
  • volunteers for militia stepped forward rapidly
  • Canadiens saw American as a threat so they helped the British
