What was the whiskey rebellion?

A

The whiskey rebellion was when Hamilton’s plan it made farmers pay tax on whiskey. Although farmers did not like that because that is how they made their money and so they did not want to pay taxes. It was a peaceful rebelling until July 1794 when they attacked the tax collectors and burned down buildings. Then Washington seeing the rebelling, stops them by putting troops on the Appalachian Mountains to stop them from fighting. Soon the farmers gave up and decided to pay taxes. Washington then reminded the citizens to make changes in the law they need to do it through constitutional means and is not in violence.
